On the feast of Pentecost in 1540, Paschal Baylon was born in a small Spanish town. His parents were poor peasants, but they helped Paschal develop as deep love for the Blessed Sacrament. When Paschal was about twenty-four years old, he became a Franciscan brother.
Paschal served as a porter and answered the door for all who came to the monastery. Many miracles have been attributed to St. Paschal since the feast of Pentecost in 1592, when the soul of this humble porter entered into Heaven. Reading this story can encourage us to follow in the footsteps of St. Paschal Baylon, whose humble service to others was a reflection of his great love for the Blessed Sacrament.
